my brain is melting.......

So, day 6 of the Pre-op diet, and it is the first day I really feel worn down.  Been averaging 400 - 600 calories a day for the last 6 days.  Did not want to get out of bed today, and my brain just isn't functioning as well as it should.  Which is tough, since I'm teaching college, and its finals week!

Also, boo-hoo, my officemate just brought in chick-fil-a,  and I can still smell the yummy bread!  I'm so sick of the shakes!

43 hours and counting till I have to report to the hospital.

  1. That's a low calorie count (even for the liquid diet). Did you surgeon give you a calorie range to be in? Mine wanted me to be between 800 - 1,000 per day even during the liquid diet. I know the preop diet sucks but you might feel better if you add another shake to the mix...

    2. I have 2 shakes per day, and they are 120-140 calories. Then drinking lots. Low sodium chicken broth, and water. Sugar free jello has only 10 calories per cup. I'm allowed small servings of fruits / veggies. Been eating an apple a day, but I'm not great with veggies.

  2. I am excited for you! It is right around the corner. This week, even. This time next week you will have already recovered from the surgery! You can do this.

  3. 400-600 cals is way too low. No wonder your brain & body are working properly. My pre-op calorie limit was 875 for two weeks, I lost 10 lbs or so. Two shakes and a lean cuisine type thing for dinner was what they recommended.
